Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate took three wickets and scored the winning runs as Holland booked their place in the World Twenty20 with a five-wicket victory over Scotland in Belfast.

The 28-year-old claimed figures of three for 23 to limit the Saltires to 107 for eight off their 20 overs - Scotland losing their last five wickets for seven runs.

And ten Doeschate booked his country's place in the qualifiers final by smashing Majid Haq for the winning runs on the way to an unbeaten 24 off 18 balls.

Durham's Kyle Coetzer scored 40 off 44 balls after the Scots had taken just nine runs from the opening three overs, opening up by hitting Mudassar Bukhari for successive boundaries.

He repeated the dose in the sixth over when hitting ten Doeschate to the fence twice as the Scots raced to 35.

Skipper Ryan Watson (22) joined in with a boundary of his own in the 11th over but was cleaned up by Peter Borren an over later after a partnership of 55 with Coetzer.

Warwickshire's Navdeep Poonia took the score to 77 with Coetzer before running his team-mate out, prompting a shocking collapse.

Keeper Colin Smith fell four balls later, hauling ten Doeschate out to Pieter Seelaar in the 15th over for a duck to spark a Scottish collapse.

Poonia and Gavin Hamilton took the score to 98 before ten Doeschate claimed two Scottish victims in his final over.

Hamilton top-edged to Darron Reekers at point for eight, Neil McCallum fell for a first-ball duck and Poonia was run out for 25 attempting a quick single.

The Scots battled to 107 but not without further drama with Richard Berrington and Gordon Drummond both being run out for two.

Holland lost Reekers for two in the first over from John Blain but Tom de Grooth boosted Holland's cause, smashing three boundaries on the way to 34 before being dismissed with the score on 50 trying one too many off Berrington.

The 21-year-old struck again to remove Bukhari for nine before two quick wickets from Blain and Dewald Nel threatened to ruin Holland's party in the 15th over.

However Essex star ten Doeschate and Borren (16 not out) kept their nerve, bludgeoning five boundaries between them to guide the Dutch home with two overs to spare.

Scotland must now face Kenya to have any chance of competing in the finals.
