Hertfordshire Mavericks produced a dominant display to beat Loughborough Lightning, with Louisa Brownfield the stand-out performer in the 61-35 victory.
With the Mavericks skipper missing just once in 38 attempts, Brownfield led by example to keep the team second in the table.
Only two goals separated the sides at the end of the first quarter, but Hertfordshire began to open up and dominate in the second and third periods.
Brownfield proved to be the major difference in the match and after scoring eight goals from eight shots in the first period, continued to rack up the points with 11 from 11 in the second.
Nadia Hutchinson and Amanada Newton kept Loughborough at bay throughout the match with a good defensive play, but credit is due to Jo Harten who took the few chances that were presented.
A near-perfect performance from Brownfield in the last 15 minutes, witnessed the captain scoring nine from 10, as the Mavericks claimed the points.
The win secured second place in the table for Hertfordshire and Mavericks coach Maggie Jackson was delighted with the team.
She said: "I am pleased that Hertfordshire Mavericks have returned to excellent shooting performances for us. Ella and particularly Louisa were outstanding.
"Loughborough Lightening really competed with us and made us have to work for the result. It was also good that I was able to use the combinations I planned for and worked towards."
Loughborough head coach Olivia Murphy admitted that the experience of the Mavericks played a major part in the match.
She added: "We have plenty to learn from today's performance, again we turned over lots of ball from two top quality shooters but failed to capitalise on them.
"Jo Harten once again led the Ligthtning attack line with clinical finishing, but we didn't give her enough of the ball.

I am pleased to see netball on TV now, but I still do't think it is shown enough. FFootball & Rugby, for example, are shown at least 5 times a week, yet Netball is only shown once, and, with there being more than one match a week, its hard to keep up with the league postitions & results! Even if it was only on 3 times a week, I think this would be an improvement, as we could keep up more. P.S. Netball should be in the Olympics!!!
