Northern Thunder picked up the two points against Leeds Carnegie, coming out victorious in a hard fought 45-39 win at the Acorn Centre.
The visitors were the sharper of the two sides and Northern led at the end of the first period 14-8.
Carnegie found their feet in the second quarter and took the game to the visitors, with the teams all square at half-time.
The third quarter witnessed plenty of action, with both sides creating quality chances in a tight period - but it was Leeds who were ahead leading by one point.
Going into the final quarter, it was Thunder who produced that extra bit of quality to claim victory, with Krista Enziano proving to be the major difference between the sides.
Northern Thunder captain Jade Clark was delighted with the victory and the performance of young Enziano.
She said: "I'm really proud of the way we kept fighting despite unforced errors. Krista one of our youngest players kept up and won the game for us."
Northern head coach Mike Greenwood was pleased with the points, but admitted the team did falter at times.
He said: "Sara Bayman turned the game in our favour. The defence went to sleep in the second and third quarter Kathryn Turner got tied up in the first half.
""Krista and Charlie turned the game around at the end."
Leeds coach Marion Lofthouse was in good spirits despite the defeat, describing that as their best performance of the season.
He added: "The result came down to last quarter and we'll take this all onboard as experience. It was a really good game, a really good contested match.
"Leeds will go away learn and improve."
