The objective of Northern Thunder is to bring top quality netball to players and enthusiasts right across the North West.
First formed in 2001, Northern Thunder played in the National Netball Super Cup competition, winning the competition in 2002 and coming a close second, as runners up in 2004.
Northern Thunder draws its players mainly from the North West and is proud to have strong links with the region's successful High Performance group of very promising young players.
The current squad includes many players who have represented England at various levels from U16 through to senior International level.
The Thunder squad is coached by Marion Lofthouse, one of England's top netball coaches.
Marion played for England in the 1960/1970s and also had the honour of becoming England captain in the 1967 World Championships. The team is managed by Chris Evans.
Northern Thunder Netball Club is controlled by Thunder Netball under the directorship of Brian Davies and Peter Ferneyhough.
It has close relationships with the North West Netball board as well as the region's County Netball Associations.
Thunder's home games are played at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool.
Northern Thunder is delighted that, for the second year, the Army has a partnership arrangement with the Club. The Army and Northern Thunder work together to promote both organisations through netball in the school and clubs and at the same time supporting the development of netball across the North West.
