Connections of Curtain Call have lodged an appeal with the Irish Turf Club against the decision not to promote their horse to fourth place in Sunday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
The Luca Cumani-trained colt appeared to be badly hampered by Alessandro Volta a furlong out, along with Tartan Bearer, but the Curragh stewards only saw fit to promote the latter into third place, ahead of Alessandro Volta.
The local stewards were not satisfied that Curtain Call would have finished in front of the Aidan O'Brien-trained horse without the interference, having finished two-and-a-half lengths behind.
But Patrick Cooper, spokesman for Curtain Call's syndicate of owners, said:
"Yes, we lodged an appeal this afternoon.
"It's very early days, so we'll see what happens and we'll know the date of the hearing in due course."
