John Gosden will not be able to defend the St Leger victory he won last year as his charge Centennial will not be supplemented for the race.
Gosden triumphed at Doncaster 12 months ago as he saddled Lucarno to victory and he had fancied another crack at the race with Centennial.
Gosden had thought about asking for Centennial to be supplemented for the St Leger after the grey bounced back to form in the rescheduled Great Voltigeur Stakes at Goodwood.
However, Centennial will not not be heading to Town Moor after connections decided against supplementing him for the St Leger.
Newmarket handler Gosden is attending the sales in America this week and analternative plan for Centennial could be the Arc trials in France on Sunday.
Peter Shoemark, Gosden's racing secretary, said: "It has been decided not to supplement Centennial for the St Leger and we are going to look instead at the Prix Niel at Longchamp."
