Crowded House relished the return to a mile with an impressive victory in the Group One Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday.

The Brian Meehan-trained juvenile went close in the lucrative Tattersalls Timeform Million over seven furlongs last time out and was a 7/1 shot to go one better under Jamie Spencer.

Aidan O'Brien's Set Sail tried to make all but was swallowed up over a furlong out before Crowded House hit top stride.

Mowing down the opposition, the Rainbow Quest colt slammed into 2/1 favourite Jukebox Jury as he swept past, eventually streaking three-and-a-half lengths clear of Mark Johnston's charge with stablemate Skanky Biscuit (16/1) third.

"He was probably always getting there," said the winning trainer. "In the Sales race at Newmarket, we had to go for the money but it was obviously a furlong too short.

"He looked very impressive here today and he's a very classy horse, everything about him is good.

"I guess he is one of the last Rainbow Quest's, there were a few left at the sales last week but he looks very good.

"It's good Skanky Biscuit was third too, he's very progressive. To come from a maiden and run in a race like this and run so well is great."
