War Of Attrition will not run in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday owing to the likelihood of fast ground.

The former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner is set to run instead at Thurles next week according to Irish trainer Mouse Morris.

"The going is good to firm, firm in places and the forecast is for fine weather, which was not ideal and we decided it was too firm for him," said Morris.

"The Durkan (December 7) is his first main target, but we might still go to Thurles."

Morris will not send the highly regarded Johnnie Dillinger over for the John Smith's Hurdle either, a race he won twice with Boss Doyle.

"There are no three-mile hurdles over here at the moment but I want to keep him to those this year," the Tipperary trainer added.

"He is in at Down Royal this week, but we may go for the big staying hurdle at Newbury next month."
