Sunday's meeting at Plumpton and Monday's Ludlow fixture are under threat after officials at both tracks called Sunday morning inspections.

Plumpton chief executive Claire Sheppard will take a look at 8am although conditions are currently raceable.

"We are having a look at 8am but we are optimistic," said Sheppard. "We have had covers down since Friday and it is frost-free under those at the moment but it makes sense to have a look in the morning.

"We are forecast around minus three overnight which is not as sharp as last night when he had minus six so we are hopeful."

Ludlow is also subject to an 8am Sunday inspection with severe frost making it unlikely that racing will take place.

"We are frozen at the moment and we had a minus six frost last night," said clerk of the course Bob Davies.

"We had minus four the night before and minus four again the night before that and while we have covers down on the worst areas, it is impossible for us to cover it all.

"We have another frost forecast tonight and temperatures may just get above freezing tomorrow before another frost Sunday night.

"Realistically if the weather forecast is right our chances are very, very slim."

Taunton's Monday card is also in doubt with officials taking another look at 9am on Sunday, but with a thaw forecast hopes are high following an initial look on Friday.

"We're facing temperatures tonight of minus three, Saturday night minus four, but we have heard there may be a thaw coming in from around 11am on Sunday to 6pm Monday, frost free," said racecourse secretary Bob Young.
