Henrietta Knight is considering her options with Calgary Bay with the Independent Arkle Trophy a possible target for the exciting novice.

The huge gelding made a sparkling debut over fences at Cheltenham recently but although Knight was pleased with the performance, it has left her with more questions than answers.

The six-year-old has plenty of speed but his victory came over 2m5f and the trainer must now decide whether to drop back in trip for one of the feature races on the opening day of the Festival in March.

"He has come back very well and you wouldn't even think he has had a race," she said.

"He is a very powerful horse but I don't want to do too much with him as he is big and still maturing.

"We still haven't decided what to do with him and need to think about it. I am not particularly keen on bringing him back in distance for the Arkle but that is the way we are leaning.

"He needs one more outing before Cheltenham and could go to Haydock on the 17th."
