Huntingdon has become the latest track to be hit by the cold snap, with Friday's meeting falling foul of the weather.

Officials at the course held an inspection at 8.30am on Thursday - however a week of sub-zero temperatures had left the track unraceable.

"We've had to abandon," said clerk of the course Andrew Morris.

"It was only plus one last night but when we inspected the course was still heavily frozen in places.

"The frost is so deep, it is only forecast to get up to plus two today and then we are due another frost tonight leaving us with no option."

Meanwhile, Kelso remain hopeful of staging the first National Hunt action of the week although Friday's meeting is subject to an 8.30am inspection.

"Conditions are improving, it was plus one last night and it is due to rise to plus five or six today," said clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.

"It might get to minus one tonight but tomorrow it will rise significantly.

"We've called an inspection and obviously we would prefer plus one to minus one tonight but the inspection just gives everyone a heads up as to where we are.

"We are not quite out of the woods just yet but we are hopeful."
