Officials at Carlisle plan to inspect the track on Saturday but remain hopeful of staging Sunday's jumps meeting.

There will be a 2pm inspection on Saturday as the venue continues to recover from the recent cold snap and a milder forecast has further raised hopes of racing.

Managing director John Baker said: "We're more positive than we were earlier in the week, but it's still 50-50.

"Some frost remains in the ground, but we are forecast milder weather on Saturday followed by rain."
