Johnny Murtagh is poised to ride Rip Van Winkle in Saturday's Investec Derby after Ballydoyle unveiled 'provisional' jockeys for their six runners in the big race.

Aidan O'Brien's stable jockey had expressed his liking for the 2,000 Guineas fourth and has been pencilled in to partner the son of Galileo in the Epsom Classic.

Seamus Heffernan is pencilled in to team up with Fame And Glory, on whom he won the Derrinstown Derby Trial at Leopardstown, with champion jockey Ryan Moore on Dante winner Black Bear Island and Pat Smullen the choice for Lingfield Derby Trial victor Age Of Aquarius.

Colm O'Donoghue is set to ride Chester Vase winner Golden Sword with Richard Hughes on Masterofthehorse, runner-up to his stable companion in the Chester event.

A Ballydoyle statement said added: "These riding plans are not set in stone but this is the way we are thinking at the moment."
