Eric Alston is eyeing another shot at the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp after Reverence returned to form at the Curragh on Sunday.

The veteran went down by a neck in the French sprint three years ago but had won just once in 20 starts until landing the Group Three Flying Five Stakes.

Soft ground is vital to the eight-year-old, who has a choice of targets this autumn.

"He's back home and he's fine," said the Preston trainer. "It was fantastic to get him back like that. Like most races it all has to go right and it did yesterday.

"As long as the ground is soft he'll go for the Abbaye and he could go to Newbury for the Dubai Duty Free World Trophy (on September 19) in between.

"We are thinking about that, we'll see. It is an alternative, otherwise it will be Paris."
