Johnny Murtagh believes the drop back to 10 furlongs should not be a problem for Fame And Glory in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes.

The Montjeu colt chased home Sea The Stars in the Irish Champion before disappointing behind the same horse in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe over an extra two furlongs.

However, the jockey says that run does not represent the colt true ability. which he hopes will shine through at Newmarket.

"He's in good form and I'm looking forward to it," said Murtagh. "The Arc wasn't really run to suit him as they went slow, but he has been fine since and we are happy with him.

"I don't think the drop back to a mile and a quarter will be a problem. His best performance of the year was when he was second to Sea The Stars in the Irish Champion Stakes, so it should be fine.

"The ground should be fine for him as he goes on most ground and he's pretty straightforward."

Christophe Lemaire is confident Jean-Claude Rouget's grey Never On Sunday can make his presence felt as the rider bids for a third win in the race.

No problem

"I'm looking forward to the race and we can forget his last race at Deauville as the (mile) trip was a bit short for him," said Lemaire, who guided Pride and Literato to success in 2006 and 2007.

"The pace was very high and he didn't like it all but I'm sure he will do much better at Newmarket.

"He goes on all ground so that won't be a problem for him and hopefully he can run like he did at Royal Ascot where he ran beautifully to finish third.

"Pride was a champion filly and Literato was very well prepared for the race. I think this has been the target for Never On Sunday for a while so we can expect him to run a big race."

Meanwhile, Ryan Moore believes his mount Doctor Fremantle has every chance of being in the shake-up.

"He has won three Group races this year, and the only bad race he has run was at Ascot when the ground was fast and he got warm," he said.

"His last race was a very good one as he gave a beating and 8lb to an Oaks winner (Look Here), and I think he will run a big race.

"He is a horse who only ever does enough and I think he can definitely be involved."
