Jean-Claude Rouget has appointed Christophe Soumillon as his jockey for next season to replace Christophe Lemaire.
Soumillon was a free agent after being relieved of his duties as the Aga Khan's retained rider - with Lemaire having taken over the position.
The Belgian has ridden for Rouget before, including dramatic return from injury on Stacelita in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
"We will work together for the year and see how it goes. He is a top-class jockey but you have to be on the horses," said Rouget.
"We will try to be a good team and it is going to be hard to do as well as this season, but you never know and we will try.
"My time with Christophe Lemaire has been very good and we can try and do the same, but it all depends on the horses."
Soumillon is likely to ride Rouget's runners in the Paris region.
