Kauto Star about to unship Sam Thomas at Haydock
Kauto Star appears set to wait for the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 21 to make his reappearance.
Paul Nicholls' nine-year-old started last year in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal next weekend.
He then went on to fall at the final fence at Haydock two weeks later and connections planned to take in one race or the other this time around.
And while the trainer was all for returning to Northern Ireland owner Clive Smith seems set to win over Nicholls by persuading him to wait for Haydock.
"All being well we're going to go to Haydock with him," said Smith.
"The horse is fine and in good shape and all being well, Haydock is on the agenda."
Wherever Kauto Star returns he will then head to Kempton on Boxing Day in a bid to win a fourth straight King George VI Chase.
