Andrew Thornton will be out of action for at least a month after suffering a broken shoulder blade on the gallops.
The veteran jockey suffered the blow while riding out for Paul Webber on Wednesday morning and admitted his disappointment at the timing of the injury.
"I've broken my scapula," he confirmed. "I came off when I was riding out at Paul's and just landed on the point of my left shoulder.
"I have had it X-rayed and I'm going back for a scan on Monday but the doctor told me I will be out for four to five weeks.
"It's a relatively straightforward break but it is disappointing to be injured at this time of year when you've done all the schooling and the rain has just started coming for the jumps horses."
