George Charlton is desperate for some warmer weather to get stable star Knockara Beau another run ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.

The seven-year-old has recorded three wins from four starts over fences, but Charlton is desperate for him to get more experience before taking in a big race at Cheltenham.

His only defeat came the hands of Weird Al at Cheltenham, to whom he was conceding 8lb, and he could be a live chance in the Royal & Sun Alliance Chase at the Festival.

He was a late absentee from the Grade Two Dipper Novices' Chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, and Charlton is now scouring the fixture list for another suitable warm-up race.

"We decided not to run him at Cheltenham as in my opinion it was dangerous ground and I didn't want to risk my best horse on it," said Charlton.

"We've had a bit of a hold up with the weather has been but he doesn't seem to have lost much fitness.

"He's been out working this morning and seems in good form. We'll just have to play it by ear with the way the weather is at the moment, but I'd certainly like to get him out before Cheltenham.

"There aren't really the opportunities there but we'll have a good look and hopefully we'll find something.

"The RSA Chase remains his main target."
