Le Beau Bai: Will run at Bangor

He's in good form and we thought this looked a good opportunity for him as he's a stone better off over hurdles.

Le Beau Bai will make his first racecourse outing since his third-placed finish in the Welsh National over timber at Bangor on Friday.

The Richard Lee-trained seven-year-old was tipped as favourite for Chepstow's marathon event in December but was edged out by Dream Alliance.

Bai is set to tackle the smaller obstacles in the Hope House Hospice Handicap Hurdle and Lee is hoping conditions will allow his charge to run ahead of Haydock on February 20.

Opportunity

"He's in good form and we thought this looked a good opportunity for him as he's a stone better off over hurdles," said Lee.

"I'm just hoping the ground is going to be soft enough for him but we really want to get a run into him as we've obviously been held up with the weather.

"We want to get him out as his main target at the moment is the Blue Square Gold Cup at Haydock at the end of the month.

"You would hope the ground would be testing there and it looks a good place to go.

"After that we'll obviously look at the Grand National but that will be ground permitting."
