Connections of Rio De La Plata concede that the five-year-old faces an uphill battle to make an impression in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp on Sunday.

The Godolphin charge has a Group One success as a youngster at the French track on his CV, but has not run at the top level in more than two years.

However, he has been in good form this season and his win at York last month was his third success in his last four starts.

"Realistically he's going to find it very tough," acknowledged Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford.

"On the book he should finish fifth or sixth, but he's in good form and he's come out of his York race well.

"He definitely deserves to take his chance but it's going to be a hot race and very difficult for him to be competitive because he's running against horses with superior form."

Richard Hannon's superstar Paco Boy heads a field of six declared for the mile showpiece.

Siyouni represents Alain de Royer-Dupre, while Andre Fabre's Lope De Vega, Criquette Head's Fuisse and Francois Rohaut's Via Medici complete the line-up.
