Long Run: Favourite for the Paddy Power Gold Cup

Nicky Henderson's Paddy Power Gold Cup favourite Long Run is likely to be joined by stablemate Mad Max in the Cheltenham showpiece on November 13.

Long Run was last seen in the RSA Chase at the Festival, finishing third under his amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen, while Mad Max beat Arkle runner-up Somersby at the Grand National meeting at Aintree.

However, it is highly unlikely that Monday's impressive Kempton winner Riverside Theatre will join the pair.

"The Paddy Power is only 10 days away and I think that may come a bit quick," said Henderson.

"It looks like I will be running Long Run and Mad Max in the Paddy Power. Long Run schooled on Sunday morning at Yogi Breisner's with Sam Waley-Cohen."

Long Run was cut to 7-2 from 4-1 favourite by Paddy Power, who said: "The news that Long Run had schooled explains why we've seen some more good cash for him."
