Midnight Chase will head straight for the totesport.com Cheltenham Gold Cup in March after his courageous victory at the track on Friday.

Neil Mulholland will look after his stable star and prepare him for a crack against Kauto Star, Imperial Commander and company after he put up a game performance to register his fourth course success in a competitive handicap chase.

"He's come out of the race very well. He's eaten up well and has a spring in his step," said the Devon trainer.

"We'll freshen him up but I'll be surprised if he has a run before the Gold Cup. He'll go straight there.

"He loves Cheltenham and we'll keep riding him on the roads and keep chipping away.

"Hopefully he'll come back a fresh horse and might even have improved again.

"You never know, but we are going there hoping we can finish third or fourth and anything else will be a bonus.

"He keeps finding and nobody knows how good he is, it was great to see him give weight away and win the way he did.

"He pulled a shoe off at the third-last when he over-reached and he still came back and winged the final two fences."

Midnight Chase is available at 25-1 for the Gold Cup on March 18 with Sky Bet.
