The Ladbrokes Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on April 25 is the target for Charles Byrne's progressive chaser Alfa Beat.

A winner of his last five starts, including the Kerry National at Listowel, the seven-year-old gelding has not been seen since July but is being prepared for a spring campaign.

"He's only just back in training so we're just playing it by ear at the moment," Byrnes told skysports.com.

"The four-miler at Cheltenham might just come a bit soon for him and maybe the Irish National might be more his race," he added.
