Blue Bajan: Fine after York flop and Doncaster an option
David O'Meara is pondering plans for his two stable stars Blue Bajan and Pepper Lane - and both could run at the Doncaster St Leger meeting.
The former ran a rare below-par race at York in the Lonsdale Cup but is none the worse for his exertions..
"He's come out of the race (Lonsdale) fine. He never looked happy, whether it was the ground or he ran flat, I don't know," the trainer said.
"He's nine now, though, and maybe takes a bit longer between his races to recover.
"He could go to Newmarket for the Jockey Club, that's an option. Doncaster is also an option (Doncaster Cup), but maybe he could benefit for a bit longer between his runs."
Going for Gold
A crack at the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup remains the number one priority for Pepper Lane, on a four-timer and winner last time out of the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon.
O'Meara added: "Ayr is the natural progression after Ripon.
"She has surprised me with each run - she keeps defying a rise in the handicap - and was very impressive at Ripon.
"She's up to 103 now, so Ayr's the obvious choice, but she might also have an entry in the Portland at Doncaster."
