Prohibit will be given a break after failing to run up to expectations in Sunday's Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp.

Robert Cowell's six-year-old sprinter has enjoyed a spectacular campaign, winning at the Dubai Carnival in February before landing the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and running numerous other good races along the way.

But he trailed home a well-beaten seventh when sent off favourite to add to his Group One tally at the weekend and Cowell feels a busy year may have finally caught up with his stable star.

"He's come out of the race fine but he did run up a bit light and I think it was probably just one race too many," said Cowell.

"He'll have a well-deserved rest now and the plan is for him to go to Australia in the new year, where he'll run in the Lightning Stakes in February.

"Hopefully if all goes well there he can call at Dubai on the way back and run at Meydan on World Cup night (Al Quoz Sprint).

"When he gets back to Britain we'll be aiming at all the same races as this year, with his main target obviously defending his crown in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot.

"That was a lot of fun and it would be great if he could go and do it again."
