Nicky Henderson expects to have a strong team in action at Aintree but beaten Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Long Run won't be among them.

Connections are set to draw stumps on the Robert Waley-Cohen-owned seven-year-old, who was third behind Synchronised in chasing's blue riband this time around

"I think we've really decided probably to put Long Run away for the season and start again next year," Henderson told At The Races.

Although RSA Chase winner Bobs Worth will be another high-profile absentee from Henderson's team for next week's three-day Grand National meeting at Aintree, the Seven Barrows handler still expects to send a powerful squad.

"Bobs Worth definitely won't go to Aintree. It was a brilliant performance by him in the RSA and we are going to give him a chance for next year," he said.

"It's not quite firmed up if Riverside Theatre goes to Aintree or Punchestown and Master Of the Hall is in the Bowl as well.

Sacre Primed

"Of the others, Sprinter Sacre will go to Aintree, Oscar Whisky will, Simonsig is going to run there and Finian's Rainbow will run over two and a half miles.

"Darlan's going to come out again. He was second in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle. I hope we've got a fairly strong team.

"One advantage we have this year is the four-week gap between Cheltenham and Aintree because of Easter, so we've got the extra week this year which we don't normally get, which is a big help.

"They all worked on Tuesday which was their first bit of work since Cheltenham. They have been ticking over nicely and are obviously pretty fit, so they are not going to suddenly go backwards. The horses look well in themselves."
