Godolphin's Discourse remains on course for the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket next month after pleasing in a racecourse gallop at Headquarters on Wednesday.

The Street Cry filly beat her smart stablemate Gamilati on her debut on the July course last summer and she followed up in hugely impressive style in the Sweet Solera Stakes.

She made her first public appearance since that outing before the opening day of the Craven meeting.

Accompanied by two lead horses, she worked over a mile in the hands of Antioco Murgia.

Racing manager Simon Crisford told www.godolphin.com: "Discourse was a bit rusty this morning, which is what we were expecting, and we hope that she comes on a lot for the piece of work.

"The 1000 Guineas (May 6) is still the aim for her."

Heading the ante-post betting for the first fillies' Classic of the season is the Aidan O'Brien-trained Maybe, who won each of her five juvenile starts, culminating with victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes.

The Ballydoyle trainer confirmed both Maybe and dual winner Wading were on course for Newmarket as he bids to win the race for a second time having saddled Virginia Waters to success in 2005.

"We have an eye on the Guineas for Maybe. That is what we're looking at at the moment and everything has gone well so far," O'Brien told At The Races.

"I'm happy with her. She's been away (from home) a few times and she's come forward every time she's been away.

"We're looking at Newmarket for herself and Wading at the moment. The next couple of weeks will tell us a lot."
