Derby bid still not ruled out for promising colt

Marcus Tregoning believes Cavaleiro, third in Saturday's Lingfield Derby Trial, could develop into a Ladbrokes St Leger horse.
The son of Sir Percy is still entered in the Investec Derby too and the trainer is no rush to finalise plans for the colt following his encouraging reappearance behind Main Sequence and Shantaram.
"I was delighted with his run and as I said before the race, we've had a slow time with him," said the trainer.
"It's been quite hard to get him ready and while he was ready enough to run, he is going to come on for it. I believe the winner is going to run in the Derby and the runner-up could go as well, I don't know.
"Without the favourite, the Derby is quite and open race and they are entitled to do that if they want to. There's no decision about my horse. I think we'll just see how he comes back the next time he works and take it from there.
"He's not an exuberant worker anyway, he's quite lazy. But I don't mind them that way, I'd rather that than when they are free-going.
"You'd think he'll stay further and I wouldn't knock out any sort of trip for him at this stage. He may well stay in training beyond this year, he's a great shape and a lovely mover and I'm sure he's a better horse on grass, so hopefully he has a big future.
"He could be a St Leger horse, but I'm not ruling anything out at the moment and I think sometimes you can rush into these things."
