Jim Goldie is looking forward to seeing Hawkeyethenoo run in the Betfair Summer Double International Handicap at Ascot on Saturday following the six-year-old's creditable fifth in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

It was the seasoned handicapper's first venture into Group One company and he showed he was not out of place in the six-furlong showpiece won by Mayson.

Hawkeyethenoo is a regular visitor to Ascot and was third in the Wokingham at the Royal meeting.

"He seems grand. We purposely left him overnight in Newmarket so he had a chance to have a good night's sleep, rehydrate and get some feed into him," said the Glasgow trainer.

"The plan is to try to run him next week at Ascot. He loves it there.

"I don't think the July Cup took too much out of him and he should run well.

"I didn't expect to be running on heavy ground at Newmarket on the July course."
