Plans for Carlton House remain on hold after he dead-heated for fourth in Saturday's Transformers & Rectifiers Summer Mile at Ascot.

The Queen's colt, who was third in last year's Derby and ran with great credit behind So You Think at the Royal meeting, was not disgraced behind Fanunalter - but more had been expected of the 4-7 favourite on his drop back in distance.

Her Majesty's racing manager, John Warren, said: "I haven't heard anything from (trainer) Sir Michael Stoute, but I would hear if there was any news.

"I think Richard Hughes rode a clever race in front (on Cai Shen) and it didn't really suit us.

"It's back to the drawing board."
