Oxx charge needs to bounce back

Saddler's Rock could aim to bounce back to form in the Stobart Doncaster Cup on Friday week following a well below-par performance at York.
Having finished a close third in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot before winning the Goodwood Cup, the four-year-old was hot favourite for the Lonsdale Cup on the Knavesmire.
Finding himself setting the pace early on under Niall McCullagh, Saddler's Rock weakened quickly from the home turn to finish a well beaten ninth of 11 runners.
John Oxx's charge burst on to the staying scene with a brilliant performance at Doncaster 12 months ago and the trainer is now considering whether to let him defend his crown on Town Moor.
"It wasn't the intention to make the running with him but he jumped very quickly from the stalls and ended up in front. It didn't suit him at all well and it ended up being totally the wrong thing to do," said Oxx.
"He seems to have been fine since and hasn't suffered any ill effects. He's a tough horse who takes his racing and his travelling well.
"We'll see how he is and then decide whether we go for the Doncaster Cup with him at the end of next week.
"I think we've decided it will be the Doncaster Cup rather than the Irish St Leger, but we'll just see how he is over the next week or so."
