John McConnell is still deciding whether to let his Beresford Stakes runner-up Orgilgo Bay run again before the end of his juvenile campaign.

Although he's still a maiden after five starts, the son of Lawman has been placed on four occasions, including when chasing home the exciting Battle Of Marengo in Group Two company on Sunday.

McConnell feels his charge will be a force in staying events as a three-year-old, but is undecided whether to save his maiden status for next season or have a crack at a decent prize in France.

Very Good Horse

He said: "He ran another good race on Sunday and I think he was beaten by a very good horse.

"We could let him off and then come out and win a maiden next year, but there are some options in France for him this year, including the Group One race in November (Criterium International).

"That's normally run on very soft ground and it's normally quite a small field, so that could be a possible option if we're happy with him and we want to be ambitious.

"I think he'll be a mile-and-a-half, mile-and-six horse next season.

"He could even be a horse for something like the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot over two miles. Let's hope we can keep him in one piece over the winter."
