Giancarlo Fisichella has hit out at Rubens Barrichello after an error from the Honda driver cost him a possible top 10 grid slot at the Italian grand prix.

During the second qualifying segment Barrichello ran wide at Lesmo One and when he went to join the track, did so right in front of Fisichella.

The Brazilian's actions meant Fisichella lost time and, according to him, lost the opportunity to make it through to the final qualifying segment.

"I lost the possibility of getting into the top ten," the Renault driver told ITV.

"I was doing a good lap - 1m23s - enough to be in the top 10.

"I think Barrichello had already finished his lap so he has gone off for nothing, and then he has come back to the circuit, in the middle of Turn Seven which is a dangerous area.

"I'm really, really disappointed because I lost the possibility to get into the top ten and I am 15th on my home grand prix."

Experienced

Barrichello, though, was not fazed by Fisichella's outburst.

"What did he want me to do? To carry on along the gravel trap?" he said when told about Fisichella's comments.

"He is experienced enough just to shut up!"
