One man does not turn around the whole team, but his input, his guidance and direction are going to make a big difference.
Jenson Button on Ross Brawn
Quotes of the week
Jenson Button believes the appointment of Ross Brawn as Honda's new team principal is exactly "what the team needs".
Last weekend the Briton voiced his concerns about the sharp decline taken by Honda this season, and suggested he could leave unless the situation improved.
Within 24 hours, the improvement seemingly arrived, with Brawn taking charge of a team who have endured a disastrous 2007 Formula One season - Honda finishing eighth in the constructors' championship with just six points.
After a year-long sabbatical, the ex-Ferrari technical director has been hailed as the answer to both Honda's and Button's prayers.
After masterminding the revival of Ferrari, who won six consecutive constructors' titles from 1999 to 2004, Brawn's reputation is seen in F1 circles as being impeccable.
Michael Schumacher also won five successive drivers' crowns during the same period to take his total to seven and make him the most successful racer in F1 history.
If Brawn can turn Honda around as he did Ferrari, then Button may finally have the chance he craves of a shot at the world title.
"I am very happy, and I think this is what the team needs. The guy has so much experience in F1," he said.
"One man does not turn around the whole team, but his input, his guidance and direction are going to make a big difference.
"He has done it all before, and I am really looking forward to working with him."
Button has yet to meet Brawn since he joined Honda on Monday, but added: "I have spoken to the guy.
"I cannot wait to meet with him and we run through a few things.
"Ross coming to us is amazing, but we also have a lot of other people coming to the team.
"I expect them to do a great job, and Ross adds to that."
