Giancarlo Fisichella has confirmed that he his considering moving from Renault to Force India.
The Italian, who has yet to be either formally released or retained by Renault, tested for the rebranded Spyker team at Jerez this week.
His departure, to join forces with Adrian Sutil, would pave the way for Fernando Alonso to return to Renault - provided the former world champions do not suffer a swingeing penalty after Thursday's FIA hearing into alleged espionage.
"Let's say that it's all open, because there's no final decision on anything yet," Fisichella said.
"I wanted to test with another team to have another road open for me, but it may still happen that Renault calls me back in a couple of days, as it can also happen that they tell me we're finished."
Fisichella faces competition from Christian Klien and Ralf Schumacher for a seat with Force India but remains adamant that, despite turning 35 in January, he is not yet ready to leave F1.
"I believe I can still give a lot to whatever team I race with," he told The Times.
