Glock: Penalty

Timo Glock will drop back ten places on the grid for the Australian Grand Prix after Toyota revealed they were forced to change the gearbox of his TF108, while he later impeded Mark Webber during qualifying.

This year's Championship saw the introduction of the four-race gearbox, with drivers being penalised five places on the grid should their teams need to change gearboxes.

And, unfortunately for Glock, Toyota were forced to change his after Saturday morning's practice session.

"That went well for my first qualifying session back in F1, and I'm happy to have made it into Q3," he said.

"Unfortunately we had to change the gearbox after morning practice so that will cost me five places, but the afternoon went better.

"Q1 was tight, then the red flag in Q2 disrupted the session but my last lap in Q2 was a good one. I lost a couple of tenths in turn 9 but I made it into Q3 with a really good last sector.

"Overall the car was good and I am quite happy with it, so it was a good job by the team."

Things got worse for Glock after he was later adjudged to have impeded Mark Webber during qualifying, resulting in his demotion being doubled.

After originally qualifying in ninth place, this means the Toyota driver will start Sunday's Melbourne race from 19th on the grid.
