Kubica: Turning point
Robert Kubica is eager to get his 2008 World Championship bid back up and running at the European Grand Prix on Sunday.
The BMW Sauber driver, who briefly led the standings following his maiden win in Canada in June, has gone off the boil in recent races.
A fifth-place finish in France was followed by retirement in the British Grand Prix and seventh place in Germany.
Three weeks ago, he finished a disappointing eighth at the Hungarian Grand Prix despite starting fourth on the grid.
As a result, Kubica now lies fourth in the Drivers' Championship, 13 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton.
However, the 23-year-old reckons BMW Sauber are still a force to be reckoned with and hopes he will once again be competitive during this weekend's trip to Valencia.
"We did not discover in Hungary that our car had lost competitiveness in respect of most of the other teams," the Pole told the official Formula One website.
"I hope that Hungary is the turning point of the season since this situation puts me in the position to fight for points rather than for podiums.
"Let's see if we can be back to where we are supposed to be in Valencia."
With team-mate Nick Heidfeld only finishing 10th in Hungary, BMW Sauber were mystified by their lack of race pace.
The result also saw McLaren Mercedes leapfrog them and take second place in the Constructors' Championship.
However, Kubica now believes that wrong tyre pressures may have had something to do with his struggles.
He added: "I would point my finger in the direction of the tyre issue. There were also some technical problems that may have influenced performance, although in a limited way."
