Vettel: Ferrari dream
Sebastian Vettel has revealed that his dream is to become World Champion - and do so behind the wheel of a Ferrari.
The German youngster will drive for Red Bull next season after a highly successful 2008 with sister team Toro Rosso, which brought both driver and team a maiden victory in the Italian Grand Prix.
Vettel's performances last season enhanced suspicions that, following the many successes of Michael Schumacher, Germany has another World Champion in the making.
Schumacher won five successive titles for Ferrari between 2000 and 2004, with Vettel admitting that he might have to join the Scuderia if he is to also take the crown.
Asked whether he'd rather be World Champion or drive for Ferrari, Vettel told El Pais: "To be World Champion.
"But, being realistic, you cannot win the title unless you have one of the best cars on the grid. And Ferrari have demonstrated that they know how to make them.
"Of course, it would be a dream to race one of their cars in the future."
Should Vettel ever race for Ferrari it would be another step towards cementing the German media's nickname for the 21-year-old: 'Baby Schumi'.
However, Vettel says he's his own man.
"As a child he (Schumacher) was my idol and he continues to be so. He is a great person, nothing arrogant about him. But I'm not trying to imitate him," he added.
"Everyone must find his own style. You can never copy an Alonso or a Schumacher. Fernando is, and always will be, his own man and when someone comes behind they will not be the new Alonso. As it is so with Schumacher.
"There is no one like them. They are unique."
