Piquet: Could move to NASCAR's pickup truck series.
Nelson Piquet Jnr has admitted that he could continue his motor-racing career in NASCAR's pickup truck series.
The Brazilian knows that his chances of gaining another drive in Formula One appear to be slim after the race-fixing controversy at Renault.
Piquet admitted to the FIA that he had been told to deliberately crash his Renault at the 2008 Singapore GP so Spanish team-mate Fernando Alonso could win the race.
The scandal saw team boss Flavio Briatore banned for life, while Renault received a suspended sentence.
And Piquet has now confirmed that he will test a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra for Red Horse Racing at Rockingham Speedway along with IndyCar Series driver Vitor Meira.
A statement on his official site read: "Piquet plans to use this test with Red Horse Racing to evaluate a future career among the NASCAR ranks and looks forward to a new challenge."
And although Piquet is new to the world of stock racing, Red Horse Racing owner Tom DeLoach is confident he can succeed.
DeLoach said: We look forward to helping Vitor Meira and Nelson Piquet make the transition into NASCAR.
"It's not an easy thing to do to go from an open wheel background to racing stock cars but they are both immensely talented and have the ability to be successful in any series they chose to race in."
