World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb has rubbished reports that a GP2 test at Jerez was intended a warm-up for a Formula One debut.
The Frenchman, who is currently chasing his sixth straight world rally title, has been rumoured to be making an appearance in the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Toro Rosso.
Loeb, who set competitive times when he tested for Red Bull in Barcelona late last year, has also said he would like to race in Formula One, providing it does not clash with his rallying commitments for Citroen.
He tested a GP2 car for the DPR team on Thursday but denied it was meant as a prelude to an F1 race appearance.
"It's no link [to Abu Dhabi]," Loeb told autosport.com. "This chance to test in GP2 is a private opportunity from an engineer from the [French] Porsche Cup, where I drove last year, and who now works with DPR.
"I'm just doing this because I have the chance. I would like to do the [F1] race, but nothing has changed - it's the same every day."
Loeb finished 18th in the morning testing session which was held in wet conditions, before sliding to the back of the field later in the day.
