Rosberg: Leaving Williams
I can only use the opportunity to really thank the team because it has been very good for my career
Nico Rosberg
Quotes of the week
Nico Rosberg has confirmed that the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be his last race with Formula One team Williams.
It has been rumoured for some time that Rosberg would leave following a four-year association with the Grove-based outfit.
The 24-year-old German has declined to reveal which team he will race with next year, but it believed that he will replace Rubens Barrichello as new world champion Jenson Button's Brawn GP team-mate.
It is speculated that there will be a straight swap and Barrichello will take Rosberg's place at Williams on a one-year contract.
"This is my last race for Williams," said Rosberg.
"It's a bit strange because for four years it has been the only team I've worked with, so it's been a long time.
"I get on really well with everybody, a lot of respect has built up with all the mechanics, so it is going to be quite strange to leave.
"I can only use the opportunity to really thank the team because it has been very good for my career.
"Sir Frank, Adam Parr, Sam Michael and Patrick Head have really supported my career all these years, so quite a big thank you to them."
Rosberg, who did not win a race during his time with Williams but secured two podium finishes, admitted that he is eager to join an outfit that has the potential for success.
"I would like to try to get into a car where there would be a very good chance of winning," said Rosberg.
"There is no reason they (Williams) can't be as good next year as this year and remain close to the top, but I am not sure they can win races."
McLaren who, like Brawn, have Mercedes engines, are also rumoured to be a major contender for Rosberg's signature, but the German refused to discuss his future plans.
"I have no ties," added Rosberg.
"I don't want to talk about my future.
"I just want to say I won't be with Williams because that's sure."
