Jarno Trulli says that while Toyota's decision to quit Formula One came as no surprise, it has left a lot of people fearing for their jobs.
Toyota announced earlier this week they are withdrawing from F1 with immediate effect, leaving their team personnel and drivers wondering about their future.
One such driver is Trulli, who first competed for Toyota in 2004 after he left Renault with two races remaining in the Championship.
The Italian, though, says for now his main concern is the team personnel as reports suggest that as many as 550 Toyota employees are about to be without work.
"This decision doesn't surprise me, even though this doesn't sadden me any less especially for the people in the team, with whom I've had a fine relationship and with whom I hope to be able to work again in the future," Trulli told Gazzetta dello Sport.
As for his own future, Trulli has been linked to a possible race-seat for the new Lotus team while a NASCAR test is also on the horizon.
"This remains just a test, even though I always keep the door open to all opportunities," he said of his NASCAR trial.
"There are some (F1) offers I'm evaluating, but I'll decide after 22 November, when the Toyota Motor Festival in Fuji ends."
