Saint-Andre ready to back rivals
Sale Sharks boss Philippe Saint-Andre has promised to help England as much as possible, despite his allegiances to rivals France.
England bosses are calling on Premiership clubs to release their elite players so they receive the same two-week preparation as opponents Ireland.
That would mean Sale releasing the likes of Jason Robinson and Magnus Lund from the crucial weekend trip to Wasps, with the Sharks desperately in need of a win to boost their top four hopes.
An England win in Ireland would see the world champions advance to Twickenham for a potential Grand Slam decider against France, but Saint-Andre admits he is prepared to put club and country favouritism aside to help Brian Ashton's men.
"We try all the time to do our best for England and for the English players," Saint-Andre told Sky Sports News.
"(Andrew) Sheridan and Charlie Hodgson both got injured with England back in November and we haven't seen them since.
"We will try our best because this is very important to England and our English players.
"But also we have a competition and I think the system is not the best, but we know our responsibility and we must get players on the pitch."
Newcastle Falcons have already confirmed Jonny Wilkinson will play no part in their weekend clash with Bristol.
