Coulthard: Suspension failure

Red Bull have been cleared to race in this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix, although the FIA has warned that they will be keeping an eye on the team's suspension.

Red Bull's participation in Sunday's race was under threat after David Coulthard's accident on Friday morning, which saw the Scot's suspension give-way after he hit a kerb.

Team boss Christian Horner was called before the race stewards to explain Coulthard's shunt, during which he was also asked to supply a technical report justifying why the stewards should not exclude Red Bull on grounds of safety.

According to www.autosport.com, the report was submitted to the FIA overnight and the Sepang race stewards spent part of Saturday morning conducting a thorough inspection of the RB4.

And although the Renault-powered car passed the inspection and has been cleared to race, the FIA has warned that they will be keeping an eye on Red Bull.

"Having received a written report from Red Bull Racing and the verbal report from the Technical Delegate who has conducted a visual check of the front suspension of the Red Bull car, the Stewards at this stage intend to take no action under Art 2.3 of the 2008 Formula One Technical Regulations," said a FIA statement.

However, it added that "this matter will however, be kept under review during the event."
