Northampton Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder is confident Scottish pair Sean Lamont and Euan Murray will remain at Franklin's Gardens.

The duo's contracts are up for renewal in the summer and the Scottish Rugby Union are hoping to tempt them back across the border to help them prepare for internationals matches.

Scottish coach Frank Hadden was angry when the Premier Rugby League pulled 10 players out of a training camp before the November Tests. Something Scottish rugby wants more autonomy over.

However Mallinder is confident keeping hold of them.

He told the Northampton Chroncile and Echo: "Scotland quite rightly would want them back and it makes a lot of sense to have them back up there because they say when they play and when they don't.

"But if you ask both the players they will say they are enjoying their rugby here and have probably developed as players playing in the Premiership and we want them to say."
