Worcester director of rugby John Brain felt his side's indiscipline had cost them during their 36-18 defeat against Bath.

Bath scored three tries, two from fly half Chris Malone, while the defeat was the Warriors' first at Sixways in the Guinness Premiership this season.

"We let ourselves down and lack of discipline was a key factor in the game," said Brain.

"We got penalised a lot but when Bath had Duncan Bell sent to the sin-bin we lost that 10-minute spell 6-5."

Worcester captain Pat Sanderson was ruled out prior to kick off due to a back injury and Brain revealed the England flanker is likely to be out of action for a short period.

"Pat has got a back problem, I'd expect him to miss the next couple of games," admitted Brain.

"You always miss him - his absence was a factor."

Acting Bath coach Michael Foley was delighted with the result and was particularly impressed by Malone's two-try contribution.

Brian Ashton takes over the reins at the Recreation Ground on New Year's Day and Foley was glad the team found some form after a difficult time recently.

"Molly is an unsung hero," said Foley.

"He's a quality number 10, not the fastest in the world but he controls the game well.

"We had a good run of six games early in the season but we lost our internationals in November and struggled to cope.

"We've got the guide back and focus."
