Quick recovery for injured duo

Injury victims Brian Lima and Pat Sanderson are both expected to make quick recoveries from the injuries picked up on Friday night, after Worcester edged Bristol in a highly entertaining encounter.

Lima lay motionless as he was stretchered off the pitch after only 40 seconds, but Bristol have confirmed that he will stay in hospital overnight purely as a precaution.

Sanderson, meanwhile, retired with a cut to the head but the blow is not expected to keep him out of England's clash with Wales in a week's time.

Commenting on the game itself, Warriors boss John Brain admitted he was delighted with his team's character as they held on for a narrow victory, ending a three-game losing streak.

"We showed an awful lot of character to come back after Bristol's second try and win," said Brain.

"We had a tough Christmas and over the past couple of weeks we have looked at ourselves and this is the start of the way forward.

"We scored a try from a turnover but to show the character and the physicality that we did was very good.

"Bristol isn't an easy place to win but I think this victory has put us in a good position in the table having lost recently to sides where we should have won."

Bristol coach Richard Hill was understandably disappointed after coming away with a solitary bonus point from the night's events, and he admitted that his side had been too cavalier in their approach.

"A lot of endeavour went into this game and the forwards were working very hard," said Hill.

"But we went back to something we did earlier in the season, which was playing with enthusiasm but playing the rugby around the middle third instead of playing in the opposition third a lot more.

"We denied them their forward strength but we then continued to play in the wrong area of the pitch.

"Every game is important for us to retain our Premiership status but if we lost one at home we have to pick one up on the road.

"I will give the players a bit of a rollicking but as long as they realise and put right their errors we can go forward from here."
