Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath hopes that Sunday's Heineken Cup victory over Glasgow will give his side a much-needed confidence boost.

The Cherry and Whites avenged a heavy defeat in Glasgow last weekend with the 19-6 win at Kingsholm to keep alive their hopes of a place in the quarter-finals.

After trailing 6-0 at half time, Gloucester staged a devastating second half fightback to stamp their complete authority on the match.

And Redpath is hoping his side can carry the momentum from their performance through into next Sunday's showdown against fellow West Country rivals Bath at the Rec.

"Today was about us winning and getting confidence and getting back on track to where we should be," he said.

"It was about us not digging a hole for ourselves and worrying too much. We have had six months of ifs and buts.

Discipline

"We have got to change, we have to start having confidence so I am chuffed how we all got something out of it today."

"In the second-half, we should have scored two more tries through Andy Hazell, when it went through his hands, and at the end when there was a forward pass (to wing Charlie Sharples).

"We knew we just had to win the game and we were not going to do that just by kicking penalties.

"Alex Brown's try was great from the pass by (Alasdair) Strokosch and credit goes to a lot of those up front for some of the hard yards.

"I think we need to play the game a bit smarter. Last week, our discipline against Glasgow was poor and this week we gave away two silly penalties and a yellow card.

"You can't do that because it gives points away. This week, I was much more pleased with the breakdown area and the scrum was good."

Desperate

Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen admitted his side had not pushed home their first half advantage and had allowed Gloucester to control the game after the break.

"It was disappointing that we didn't turn up in the second-half," he said. "The first-half was pretty good. We did what we had to do but the guys just didn't work hard enough.

"Gloucester didn't have to do that much. There were a couple of soft tries we conceded. They were very desperate and got the win.

"Last week, we played a lot of good rugby with speed and intent. We got a decent result then but we didn't keep it going today and the guys made it too easy for Gloucester.

"We hung off a bit in attack and defence. Our spacing was not very good, the guys hung on the deck for too long and, when that happens, other guys have to do their job."
