McGeechan: Challenge
Ian McGeechan has warned his Wasps side they will need to be at their very best to have a chance of Heineken Cup success next season.
The Guinness Premiership champions conquered their domestic rivals to send Lawrence Dallaglio into retirement in style at Twickenham.
However, director of rugby McGeechan says that their Heineken Cup draw means they will have to play at their best to make an impact in the tournament.
Wasps will face Magners League champions Leinster, while former England boss Andy Robinson's Edinburgh side will also provide a stiff test, with French side Castres completing a tough group.
McGeechan has warned his side that they will need their top form to win Pool Two to bag the guaranteed knockout place.
The 2007 Heineken Cup champions were dumped out in the group stages last season after being placed in a tough group, and they will need to improve to avoid another early exit.
"Ours is a challenging group, but that's what you'd expect from the Heineken Cup as the top club competition in Europe," McGeechan said.
"Looking at the groups across the draw, they are all very well spread and there's no bad team, therefore our performances are going to have to be top drawer, but we'd expect that in such a premier competition.
"Whoever wants to qualify from this group will have to be outstanding to win it."
